In a post called "Press a Button to Unlock Your System" Nintendo revealed that opening the Switch 2 is the same deal as with the original Nintendo Switch, where you press a button three times to unlock the system. And just in case you weren't sure what that could be like, there was a video included.
A change to Nintendo's approach to streaming apps, originally noticed by Ars Technica, appeared as part of the Switch 2's updated support page. In the update, Nintendo states that the Hulu, Crunchyroll, InkyPen, Abema and niconico apps from the original Nintendo Switch cannot be used on the Nintendo Switch 2.
Now, the company is trying to do it again with the Switch 2. Ahead of the new console’s launch on June 5th, The Verge is looking back at the various ways that Nintendo has changed over the last eight years and how those changes might continue into its next generation.
The Nintendo Switch 2 launches in exactly one week, and in the lead up to the new console, Nintendo has updated the Nintendo Switch Online app and made it much more useful. It also has a new, pithier name.
Aside from the paid Switch 2 upgrade packs that add extra content and graphical improvements, Nintendo is releasing several free Switch game updates to add a handful of Switch 2-specific features and improve performance on the new console. Third-party game developers will presumably be able to release these kinds of updates as well.
