NEW YORK -- Defenseman Lane Hutson of the Montreal Canadiens is the 2024-25 recipient of the **Calder Memorial Trophy**, presented “to the player selected as the most proficient in his first year of competition,” as selected by the Professional Hockey Writers Association.

Lane Hutson led rookies in scoring with six goals and 60 assists in his inaugural NHL season as the Canadiens made a surprise return to the playoffs this season.

Hutson has used information to overcome challenges and improve his whole life, and there's no reason to believe that will stop now.
