LeBron James' future with the Los Angeles Lakers has been a key talking point at NBA Summer League, especially with retirement looming.

LAS VEGAS — Cole Swider racked up a game-high 21 points to lead the Los Angeles Lakers to a 94-81 victory over the New Orleans Pelicans in the NBA 2K26 Summer League on Saturday at Thomas & Mack Center.

While Flagg looked good with the ball in his hands, he looked better playing off it, and that will be more of his role in Dallas where D’Angelo Russell in the short term and Kyrie Irving long term (once healthy), not to mention Anthony Davis, will facilitate the offense most of the time.

Despite losing to the Los Angeles Clippers, Los Angeles Lakers guard Bronny James is showing off his development in the NBA Summer League. The former USC Trojans star led his team with 17 points in the losing effort.

Bronny James played 20 minutes and scored 17 points while adding five assists and five rebounds. Dalton Knecht had a less solid day with eight points, seven rebounds and two assists. He shot 3-of-14 overall and was 1-of-7 from three-point range.

There’s also DJ Steward, who has been playing his cards right for the Lakers this summer. Steward, who has been looking to land an NBA contract since 2021, is averaging 10 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 4.3 assists per game in Las Vegas Summer League.

He usually would only get in during garbage time, which is all that is expected out of a rookie second-round pick.This year, James is determined to win a spot in the rotation and show the rest of the NBA that he can play at this level.

What does this have to do with Bronny James? Well, James is theoretically in the same class of summer leaguer as Bazley. While the top picks like Cooper Flagg are there to showcase future stardom, the stakes are relatively low for them in Vegas.
