A National Football League employee was seriously injured in a shooting Monday at a midtown Manhattan building that houses the NFL's offices and some of the country's top financial firms, commissioner Roger Goodell said in a memo to employees.

Authorities in New York City are responding to a report of a shooting at a midtown office building that houses some of the country’s top financial firms and the National Football League.

The suspect immediately opened fire at an NYPD officer who was working a paid detail at the building, which allows private companies to hire officers for security, according to Tisch.
