Miami had a chance to advance to the Super Regionals on June 1, but Southern Miss staved off elimination with a 17-6 win over the Hurricanes. On June 1, Southern Miss jumped out to a 9-0 lead in the first inning.

Southern Miss baseball ambushed Miami with a nine-run first inning and went on to win 17-6 on June 1 at the Hattiesburg Regional. The Golden Eagles (47-15) victory sets up a winner-take-all against the Hurricanes (33-25) on June 2 (at 8 p.m.) at Pete Taylor Park.
