DA wants mental health records for Melissa Perez, San Antonio mother shot dead by police Perez, 46, was killed June 23 at her Southwest Side apartment. Family members said she was schizophrenic.

Melissa Perez wasn't only having a mental crisis when she was killed by San Antonio police officers. She was intoxicated, according to an autopsy report obtained by the San Antonio Express-News.

A Bexar County judge ordered San Antonio to turn over documents in the case of ex-officers charged in Melissa Perez’s 2023 death. Trial date is pending.

Clearly, nothing will change until the City’s elected officials accept responsibility for the actions of all 15 of the officers who were on duty and were at Ms. Perez’ home that horrible night.

Eleazar Alejandro, Alfred Flores and Nathaniel Villalobos, accused in fatal shooting of Melissa Perez in 2023, will stand trial together in September.
