Granville was considered a contender to start opposite Dani Dennis-Sutton, with Zuriah Fisher and Jaylen Harvey also in the mix. Regardless of whether he earned a starting role, the redshirt freshman was expected to be a key contributor this fall.

Max Granville, a promising defensive end for Penn State, sustained a long-term injury this spring, Nittany Lions coach James Franklin said.

Penn State football defensive end Max Granville suffered a long-term injury, head coach James Franklin announced at media day on Thursday. Franklin says Granville suffered the injury while working out at home over break. Granville played in seven games in 2024, after enrolling a year earlier than anticipated.
