A brush fire has broken out in the Santa Clara river bottom near S. Palm Avenue and E. Santa Maria Street in Santa Paula. The fire, now about 2 acres in size, is causing access issues for fire crews.

Maria Fire initially started 3:22 p.m. June 16 in Ventura County. Since its discovery 15 hours ago, it has burned 60 acres. As of Tuesday morning, 50% of the fire was brought under containment by a fire crew of 20. The blaze's cause remains under investigation.
