Marcus Philips played in the 2017 Little League World Series on the first team from Sioux Falls ever to make it to Williamsport. Here he is introducing himself and showing off his jump shot form: And here he is hammering a homer to the opposite field:

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) -It was a pretty emotional night for the Phillips family last night at the MLB Draft party in Sioux Falls. Marcus waited patiently to hear his name called and with the 33rd pick, my Boston Red Sox chose the Tennessee standout... I was overjoyed that he’s be headed to Boston.

The Red Sox have selected Phillips with the 33rd overall pick in the 2025 First-Year Player Draft.

Although yesterday was a big day in the Phillips household, it wasn’t the first time. Back in 2017 Marcus Phillips was part of the first Little League team from South Dakota to make it to the Little League World Series.
