Conservative Karol Nawrocki won Poland’s weekend presidential runoff election, according to the final vote count on Monday.

Poles began voting Sunday in a decisive presidential runoff that could set the course for the nation’s political future and its relations with the European Union.

His rival, Rafal Trzaskowski, the liberal Warsaw mayor and an ally of the government led by Donald Tusk, got 49.11%.
