Lionel Messi scored his first goal of the expanded Club World Cup on an exquisite free kick, lifting Inter Miami to a 2-1 victory over two-time European champion Porto in Atlanta.

By Fernando Kallas PHILADELPHIA (Reuters) -Thirteen years of European dominance in intercontinental club football came to an end on Thursday as U.S. side Inter Miami defeated Porto 2-1 and Brazilians Botafogo beat Champions League winners Paris St Germain 1-0 at the revamped Club World Cup.

Lionel Messi was once again the hero for his club on Thursday.  Wearing Inter Miami's iconic pink kit, the former Barcelona star scored a trademark free-kick against Porto, which proved the winner
