Britain's fifth seed Jack Draper fought off inspired home favourite Gael Monfils to claim a 6-3 4-6 6-3 7-5 victory and reach the third round of the French Open on a raucous Court Philippe Chatrier on Thursday.

Gael Monfils would have liked to stick around longer than the second round at his 18th French Open but said he felt no shame in bowing out to Jack Draper on Thursday, happy just to have "teased" a player whose game he loves.

Draper won his first match at Roland Garros on Tuesday and will be up against the boisterous French Open crowd when he faces the 38-year-old veteran Monfils, who battled from two sets down to win his first-round match. Jacob Fearnley and Cameron Norrie are also in action tonight.
