The National Hurricane Center is tracking the first region of potential cyclone development since the hurricane season kicked off on Sunday. A nontropical area of low atmospheric pressure is expected to develop along the boundary of a stalled front that will be draped between the Carolinas and north Florida this week.

For the next six months, we'll be watching the National Hurricane Center closely to see if predictions for an above-average season come true.
