President Donald Trump on Friday said he plans to fire the head of the government agency that produces the monthly jobs report, claiming without evidence that she is biased against him. In a tweet, Trump said he instructed his political team to remove Erika McEntarfer as commissioner of the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

The data come after economists have expressed concern that the Trump Administration’s flip-flopping tariff policies and sweeping layoffs at federal agencies could slow economic growth. Some Democratic lawmakers slammed the Administration upon the release of the Labor Department’s report.

President Trump said he ordered his administration to fire Bureau of Labor Statistics Commissioner Erika McEntarfer after the July jobs report.
