U.S. stocks appear set for a negative opening on Tuesday after U.S. President Donald Trump exited the ongoing Group of 7 (G7) Summit early amid escalating tensions in the Middle East due to the Israel-Iran conflict.

Crude oil and refined product futures prices were seeing gains Tuesday morning, pushed higher by escalations in the conflict between Israel and Iran.

Stocks edged lower on Tuesday as investors assessed escalating tensions in the Middle East and a disappointing set of retail sales data.

At the time of writing, S&P 500 futures are down 0.6% slightly below the psychological level of 6,000. Down futures ease over 240 points, and slides to near 42,720.

Dow Jones futures, along with S&P 500 futures and Nasdaq 100 futures, traded little changed ahead of Tuesday's open. The stock market rallied Monday as Wall Street reacted bullishly to reports that Iran is looking to ramp down hostilities with Israel.
