President Donald Trump on Monday announced that Israel and Iran had agreed to a ceasefire, after more than a week of fighting following Israel's strikes -- and subsequent U.S. attacks -- on Iran's nuclear program.

Iran fired a final wave of deadly missiles at Israel before acknowledging the deal, while Israel said it accepted the proposal because all its military objectives were already achieved.

President Donald Trump announced early on Tuesday that a ceasefire between Israel and Iran had gone into effect, something both Israeli and Iranian officials also confirmed, ending a nearly two-week-long clash between the countries that also involved U.S. airstrikes on Tehran’s key nuclear facilities.
