Dr. Stephen Weiner testified that Carlos Dominguez was severely psychotic at the time of the stabbings, believing he was being chased by a supernatural being, and Dr. Sirintip Rhee confirmed that Dominguez had auditory hallucinations and believed he was being guided by shadows.

Dominguez, 22, has pleaded not guilty and not guilty by reason of insanity to murder and attempted murder in the serial stabbing attacks that killed two Davis men at the city’s Sycamore and Central parks and wounded an unhoused woman in April and May 2023.

Carlos Reales Dominguez, the man accused of 2023 serial stabbings in Davis, will return to the witness stand on Tuesday to continue testifying on his life, trauma and perspective on the attacks. The former UC Davis student is accused of fatally stabbing two men and seriously wounding a woman in an almost week-long crime spree that led the college town that is home to UC Davis to close businesses early and switch evening classes into a virtual format until an arrest was made.
