Donald Trump claimed credit for brokering peace between Cambodia and Thailand by leveraging trade deals. He stated discussions led to a quick resolution, preventing further conflict. Trump warned both nations that trade negotiations hinged on ceasing hostilities.

"The U.S. already flunked the test and that should be a wakeup call," a former senior U.S. State Department official told Newsweek.

Thailand's army accused Cambodia Tuesday of violating an hours-old truce, saying clashes continued despite a deal meant to end the bloody fighting that has engulfed their jungle-clad frontier.
