Braga Fresh, a California-based food manufacturer, recalled the washed and ready-to-eat 12-ounce Marketside Broccoli Florets sold at Walmart in at least 20 states. The recalled broccoli has a UPC code of 6 81131 32884 5 on the back of the bag while the front of the bag has the expiration date and Lot Code: BFFG327A6.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has labeled the broccoli recall as a Class I, the highest risk level issued by the agency.

More than 5,900 bags of this Marketside Broccoli were sold. The states that are currently impacted by this recall are the following: Alaska, Arkansas, Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Montana, Nevada, Ohio, Oregon, Texas, Utah, Washington and Wyoming.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration upgraded the classification of recalled broccoli sold at Walmart originally issued in December to its highest recall category, according to the agency’s updated report.

Broccoli florets Walmart stores in 20 states have been under a recall since late last year. The FDA now has updated its recall notice for Marketside Broccoli Florets to Class I, meaning the product could be potentially deadly.

Last year, California-based grocery producer Braga Fresh voluntarily issued a precautionary recall of 12-ounce washed and ready-to-eat Marketside Broccoli Florets sold at more than 1,000 Walmart stores due to the possibility of Listeria monocytogenes contamination.
