Greg McElroy raved about Alabama football's performance in its first scrimmage of fall camp. But he did have his share of concerns.

In the redshirt junior, who is one of three quarterbacks vying for the Crimson Tide's starting quarterback job, McElroy said he saw a passer who "looks very in control." Simpson made the "play of the day," finding Jam Miller downfield off a scramble for a touchdown.

Greg McElroy was one of several former Alabama players who had an opportunity to watch the Crimson Tide’s first scrimmage of fall camp on Saturday. McElroy walked away impressed with all three quarterbacks but felt Ty Simpson really stood out.
