Ryanair publicly called on the European Commission Thursday to reform EU Air Traffic Control services as strikes by French ATC employees have canceled flights for more than 30,000 people.

Ryanair has cancelled 170 flights affecting 30,000 passengers as French air traffic control strike. The flight cancellations on Thursday and Friday which will affect flights between the UK and France.

The strike affected air traffic across Western Europe. Ryanair, Europe's largest airline, said on Thursday it was forced to cancel 170 flights, affecting 30,000 passengers.

One of the two unions leading the strike, UNSA-ICNA, said in a statement that there are not enough employees to handle surging air travel and that inflation is eating away at salaries.

The Irish carrier said the cancellations on Thursday and Friday affect flights to and from France, as well as flights over the country.
