Russia launched a massive attack on Ukraine overnight into Saturday with hundreds of drones, killing at least one person, part of a stepped-up bombing campaign that has dashed hopes for a breakthrough in efforts to end the more than 3-year-old war.

Russia launched over 30 missiles and 300 drones during its overnight assault that affected 10 regions of the country, Ukrainian President Zelenskiy said.

Russian strikes killed at least seven people and injured 28 others in multiple regions over the past 24 hours, Ukrainian regional authorities said on July 19.
