Iranian state media described the missile barrage as the beginning of Tehran's "crushing response" to Israeli strikes that occurred earlier on Friday.

Israel launched a major attack with strikes early Friday that set off explosions in the Iranian capital of Tehran.

Israeli intelligence agency Mossad had smuggled weapons into Iran ahead of the strikes, according to Israeli security officials, and would use the weapons to target Iran’s defense from within.
