Casino operator Las Vegas Sands beat analysts' expectations for second-quarter profit and revenue on Wednesday, driven by strength in its Singapore and Macao businesses, sending its shares up 4.6% in trading after the bell.

Since opening in 2010, Marina Bay Sands—which was developed at a cost of $5.6 billion—has been a key growth driver for Las Vegas Sands.

The Details: Las Vegas Sands reported quarterly earnings of 79 cents per share, which beat the Street consensus estimate of 53 cents. Quarterly revenue came in at $3.17 billion, which beat the analyst estimate of $2.82 billion and is up from $2.761 billion in the prior year’s quarter.
