Come before sunset and stay to stargaze. We arrived about 4:45pm and were able to see the Sun and Venus before sunset. Fascinating exhibits inside and the guides are personable and very informative! … Full review by Carl S

We thought this place was average at best. The outdoor show on the warm seats was good for the first part then they drifted off into fantasy land when all we wanted to do was see the stars and be tol… Full review by lola9876

Questions & answers

Q:
What time of year is the best time to visit
A:
We were there in October and it was delightful. Flagstaff is north and quite a bit higher than Phoenix, so they do have winter and not "killer heat" summer

How many hours would you say an average visit would be? I’m interested in the guided tours in addition to evening activities. Just sounds like a long day!
A:
3 to 4 hours is plenty of time to see most. Many people go at night to view the stars & planets.

Hi, me and a friend of mine will be traveling from page, AZ to flagstaff on Saturday night as we're planning to to the Grand Canyon Sunday morning. What can we do in flagstaff in one night?
A:
Lowell Observatory may be a good pick. On some nights (maybe ALL nights?) they have star gazing and related lectures. Check their site for info.
Q:
Can people in a wheel chair (that can not walk at all) get around and see stuff here ok?

Thanks for your question. There are paved walkways connecting most or all of the buildings. I don't remember if any of the buildings themselves can only be accessed by steps. You might call and ask. The lectures themselves seem to be given IN the buildings so you'd want to check building access. The museum/gift shop is easily accessible via paved surfaces from the parking lot and there were no steps in the museum/gift shop that I recall.
Q:
What does this cost?
A:
About 15$ for adults. The ticket is for the whole day. You can come back later in the dark to watch the night sky with the same ticket!
