Great morning out, took advantage of the £10 January deal, great exhibits. Had a wonderful day. Just wish a few more cafes had been open for hot food. Full review by Bryony C

Colchester zoo is a clean modern and well run zoo. My daughter and I plus her two 4 year olds visited here in January. The weather was appalling but we still had a fantastic time as there were plenty… Full review by nigelspost

We booked the giraffe feed in June - think it was £20 for up to family of five, but was just the two of us. Lovely staff and you’re taken into an enclosed area by their field, but was a lot more people feeding than we’d hoped - think there was about 16 of us so you get divided into groups and take it in turns to have your own family time for about 5-10 mins with one giraffe - they had two giraffes to feed, a third wasn’t playing ball . You get given a large plastic pot with herb stalks - you hold one up at the designated high fenced area and the giraffe leans over and gently takes it - amazing long tongues. Little children were on parents shoulders feeding them, so gentle. My 30 yr old daughter loved it - I was taking the photos. So would definitely recommend doing it - not cheap but it’s memorable. Just be prepared to share the experience with others - we’d assumed it’d be a fairly exclusive thing to do. Nice moneymaker for the zoo though…

We bought online which as others have said is cheaper but o believe it is absolutely possible to buy on site. Also, buying online enabled us to add on things like feeding experiences (which were actually really reasonable) which have to be pre booked in advance.
