This magnificent theater, crowned with a tiled mosaic dome in the colors of the Brazilian flag, features operas and other artistic performances.

A nice building. If you compare it to other buildings in Brazil, this is a truly unique historical place. If you compare it with those in Europe, it's not such wow thing at all. The theater offers t…Full review by Jana K

very informative and interesting tour. it is amazing how the rubber barons wasted money taking excellent care of themselves while giving very little back to the indigenous population.Full review by R6059ZNdavidb

Hi You can into the theatre the day before the performance (or the day itself) and buy tickets from the box office. The lady speaks enough English to get by. The prices buying direct are very reasonable, especially considering that only the best seats (ground floor) are put on sale to the public. The upper levels are made available to local residents (for free) who have to queue an hour or two before the performance. The theatre is accessible to wheelchair users - there is a ramp into the auditorium level, and attendants on hand to assist. I don't recall a disabled toilet, though.
My husband is a full time wheelchair user. Will he be able to get into the theatre to attend a performance on Thursday 17th January 2019?

Hi - Are shows offered every day? Is there a place where one can buy advanced tickets? We will be in Manaus November 21-22, 2018. Are tours offered every day? If so, what times? Any information would be appreciated. Thanks.

We will be in Manaus from 10 am on 2 December 2017 until 4pm on 3 December 2017. We would like to know if there will be any performances at Teatro Amazonas, and if so, what is the cost of tickets whilst we are in port. Thank you!

As other responders have said, you'll need to go to the theatre on arrival, or to the tourist information office on the opposite side of the theatre square. There are some free performances of music and drama. The free tour (in Portuguese) is good. On our visit we were allowed to watch 5 minutes of a symphony orchestra in rehearsal - wonderful. I hope you enjoy Manaus as much as we did.
