Stanford is a town in the north-central part of Dutchess County, New York, United States. The population was 3,628 at the 2020 census, down from 3,823 at the 2010 census. Stanford was first settled circa 1750. The town was part of the Great Nine Partners Patent of 1697. The town of Stanford was formed in 1793 from the town of Washington.
