We were quite happy we didn't visit the place as part of a guided tour, so taking the public transport might be a better option? Opposite the entrance is a really nice restaurant (first floor above a shop), which you'll miss if you are guided around the place at the speed of moving cattle :-)

Solar de Mateus is well known for its baroque architecture and garden. It’s not a winery although it will be possible to taste the Mateus rosé wine. Enjoy!
