Depending on how engaged your kids are it would take an hour or so for the Seuss Museum alone. If you include all the other museums in the group (two art museums, the Science Museum, and the local History Museum) you're probably going to need 4 to 5 hours. Also, just up the street, is the national armory museum which is part of the national park system. It's very interesting even for those of us who are not that interested in guns but enjoy history.

it really depends on the individual visitors. It took us an hour, but the children with us (5,9,12) only did two of the hands on activities - one sketched a Seuss character on a screen and all three stacked turtles. There were a couple of more activities upstairs and downstairs there was a craft they could have participated in, but the 5 year old was getting restless. There was also a reading area where you could spend time reading. For adults and older children there is a section upstairs with correspondence. I loved reading that and if we didn't have the two younger ones would probably have spent half an hour up there. As an important side note, the museum regulates how many visitors can get in at one time - I'm sure to keep the hands on activities from getting crowded and lines from forming. You can purchase tickets ahead of time, otherwise you might get there and have to wait to enter the museum. The guard at the door checks the time on your ticket. So if you are on a tight schedule, keep that in mind.
